What is Early Intervention?

-
Individualized support that focuses on physical, behavioural, social and cognitive development.
-
Root causes are identified and remediated before the problems get worse.
-
Provides parents with support to enhance their child's learning readiness.
Why is Early Intervention important?

-
It can positively impact a child's developmental pathways. The brain can change!
-
The earlier the intervention, the greater the chance of future learning success!
-
Families can better meet their child's developmental needs from an early age.

"Parents are usually the first to recognize when a child has a problem. Often they don't know what is wrong, they simply sense, "There's something different about my child." Unless the symptoms are severe, the difficulties are often overlooked and parents are told: "He will grow out of it!" While it is true that some children do grow out of early problems, there exist also a group of children who to all outward appearances are "normal" but who are immature in other aspects of their development. If these immaturities persist, the children are at risk of experiencing a range of learning and behavioral difficulties at various stages in their lives.

Many education and remedial techniques are aimed at reaching higher centers of the brain. A neuro-developmental approach identifies the lowest level of dysfunction and aims therapy in that area. All learning takes place in the brain; it is the body that acts as the receptor for information and then becomes the vehicle through which knowledge is expressed."
